It is not known if this B-25 ever came into being but the War Bond collection was thought at that time, by the Detroit Evening Times (April 1943), to be unique.
Sammy Sofferin, owner of the Wonder Bar in Detroit, decided to make the collection from his customers with the help of two AWVA volunteers and the aim of raising more than $100,000. The target was the War Department's estimated cost of a Mitchell B-25. It was believed to be the first "Sip and Supper Club" to attempt such a collection.
If anyone came offer any further information on the success or otherwise of this collection, please let us known.
