Citizens of St John the Baptist Parish, LA, collected a total of $335,000 in the 3rd War Bond Drive. It was enough to have a B17 named and dedicated to the parish, with $35,000 left over. Instrumental in collecting these funds was Louis J Maurin, who was later cited by President Harry S. Truman for his efforts in selling war bonds.
