Shoo Shoo Baby

Assigned to Lt (later Capt) John Howell in the 364FS, this Mustang was fitted with a Malcolm Hood at a later unknown date. This new bubble hood allowed for greater all round vision for the pilot and was a great improvement on the original configuration.

John Howell claimed an aerial victory on 28th May after shooting down an Me109 and shared another victory two days later. On 29th June, another Me109 was destroyed and an Fw190 damaged. However, it is not yet known if he was flying "Shoo Shoo Baby" on any of these dates,

On 27th February 1945, the P51 was being flown by Lt Ralph Eisert on a training flight when it collided in mid-air with another 357FG aircraft and crashed near Leiston. Both Eisert and the other pilot, Robert Hoffman, were killed.
