Las Vegas Kid

Assigned to the 98th Troop Carrier Squadron of 440TCG and based at Bottesford in England, this C47 flew as part of the "Market" operation on 17th September 1944 dropping paratroops into Holland. On that day, it was flown by Lt Bradford and his crew, marked with the chalked number 41, carrying paratroopers from 3rd battalion 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

The plane already carried markings on 17th September for 2 previous paradrops (probably D-Day), 3 medivac flights and two freight hauls (probably petrol for the rapid advance across northern France).
