A war bond purchase by citizens of Custer County, Nebraska in 1943 who raised in excess of the $75000 required by the War Department to buy and dedicate a pursuit ship. The 5-digit serial on the tail fin indicates an early production Thunderbolt and the dedication is in a similar style to a number of P47s which were despatched to fighter groups in the ETO.
