Assigned to Capt Victor J France
Capt France hailed from Dallas,
Texas, and scored more than eight victories in this and a later aircraft
before being killed on 18th April 1944. Don Allen repainted an
almost identical image onto a P51B Mustang when the 4th Fighter
Group re-equipped. Its nose art was only recently completed when this
Mustang (43-6832) was lost with Capt France when he chased an
Me109 at low level near Stendal, struck the ground and exploded.
